Meadow Lake School Transitions

May 18, 2018

Northwest School Division is examining changes to the school grade configurations in Meadow Lake to address the number of school transitions that a student in the community must make.

School transitions are the conversions students go through as they change schools throughout their lives. These transitions play a major role in the development of young people’s decisions and serve as a milestone which can direct them in a number of ways.

Currently a student in Meadow Lake would attend 4 different schools throughout their K-12 education. The division is investigating reducing that number by one transition, so a student would attend 3 schools from K-12.

These changes would not be put in place until Fall 2019.

This is a that explains in greater detail the proposed changes:

This process is only just beginning, and the Board of Education and administration will be hosting a public meeting to hear from the community on Wednesday, May 30th at 7:00 pm in the theater at Carpenter High School.

We are committed to sharing with the community and engaging with the public throughout this process.

If you have questions or would like to hear more about the plan for Meadow Lake schools, please try to attend the meeting.
