Our Family Centre

The Family Centre at Jubilee is open to all parents and younger siblings of students at Jubilee as well as other members of the community who volunteer in our school. We have such an active Family Centre that we have expanded into two rooms. One room houses the kitchen area and is always a busy place. Snacks are prepared daily for the students, and often enticing aromas waft out as a wide variety of foods are baked. The other room, a little farther down the hall, houses some comfy chairs as well as work spaces for our Community School Coordinators. Both rooms are always ready to welcome visitors.

Our Family Centre is staffed by Daniel Daongam, our Child Services Provider, and Cally Daongam and Glenda Wuttunee, our Community School Coordinators. They are often helped by our School Assistant, Jean Oatchess. Along with our Principal, Joanne Gislason, they work closely with the members of our School Council, fondly known as our TIE Committee. TIE stands for Together in Education. The Council meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00pm. Parents and community members are always welcome to attend.

Many activities and special events are organized through the Family Centre. More information about these can be found on the Activities page of this website. The School Council funds activities that are not covered by our regular school budgets, so they organize fund raising functions as well as plan activities.

The School Council elections are held in October. The council consists of these nine members: Lee Schenk, Terri Prete, Josey Loughins, Amy Nash, Candace Regnier, Lesley Rolfe, Kim Twidale, Joanne Lobert, Tracey Calvert, and Holly Warkentin.
