At Lakeview Elementary, the administrative team works hard to ensure that Lakeview is both a caring, safe and dymanic learning environment for all students, as well as a supportive and innovative invironment in which to work.
Terry is dedicted to teaching all students and supporting his staff. He is an intuitive individual, passionate about education and helping others succeed. "As one succeeds, we all succeed", he has said. In 2008, Terry was selected as Saskatchewan's Distinguished Principal and as one of Canada's Outstanding Principals along with thirty-three other exceptional leaders in education from across Canada.
Reluctant to take any of the praise, he credited his success to the contributions of his dedicated staff and students.
Terry entered the education field in 1994. He has taught in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, covering all grades from kindergarten to grade ten in both First Nations and public education settings. Before coming to Meadow Lake, Terry gained teaching experience in Barrier Lake, QC; administration experience as acting principal in Grand Rapids, MB; and further experience as principal, grade five/six teacher and special education teacher in Big River, SK.
Since joining Lakeview, Terry has promoted the community school concept and First Nations education. He is a strong advocate for all students, ensuring supports are in place for everyone so that they can succeed at their level. Terry's favorite quote is "fairness isn't about treating everybody the same, it's about giving people what they need to succeed". In his spare time, Terry enjoys song writing and performing on his guitar with local musicians.
Dawn is a caring, hardworking individual who has taught students since 1993. Before joining the Lakeview administrative team, Dawn has gathered experience teaching grades one, two, three and four classess, and has taught in a structured success classroom.
Since joining Lakeview Elementary, Dawn has helped initiate the character education program at the school. She has also provided inter-divisional services on classroom management and helped develop the school-wide success plan. As well as sitting on numerous committees, her other interests include coaching the local figure skating club.
Her favorite school-day moments include watching the moment of success sparkle in childrens' eyes, participating in class room activities and team teaching with other teachers.
