January 10, 2012 SCC Meeting Minutes

Laura called the meeting to order at 7:45

Treasurers report - tabled for February's meeting

Report from School - $8000 grant received for Aboriginal Culture and Arts, working with Makwa and
Waterhen drummers
- Playground fundraising letters delivered
- Posted position for a full time EA
- working on #'s for enrolment for next school year
- staff meeting regarding report cards

Community Room - written report given
- Davin added that in regards to the Aboriginal grant Mr Sinclair will be working to form a pow wow, singing and dance group
- Extra Foods is willing to donate supplies for a pancake breakfast for teachers and students

Committee Reports
Playground fundraising
- Womanless Beauty Pageant is set for Feb. 11, spaghetti supper and silent auction in conjunction with pageant
- 6 men confirmed to participate (Gavin Van de Venter, James McKee, Calvin Sylvestre, Steven Pollock, Davin Hildebrand and Constable Dylan)
- event to be held in the school gym with 250 tickets to be sold in advance
- asking for donations to have a silent auction that night as well
- also asking anyone for donations of large ladies shoes, dresses as well as wigs
- will be creating a letter to send home with details of the Pageant as well as request to have desserts/squares donated
- Nicky is working on posters and tickets
- Carolyn brought in a large poster to be posted in the school showing our fundraising progress
Room Rep Committee
- room reps were used to get volunteers for Pancakes for Santa
- contact Stacey if room reps need to be contacted

Donations
- New Playground donations received from: Elks $400, Wholelife Wellness $500, Shelly Pikowicz $1000 and Innovation CU $500
- Innovation CU would like recognition for the donation in the form of a picture in the paper of someone accepting the cheque
- Dawn will contact the paper to see if they can write an article on our Playground Fundraising efforts along with the Innovation CU photo
