Activity Update – Mr. Wade Worman

October was a busy month at Neilburg Composite School.  Students and teachers are getting used to the new guidelines for covid-19 and classes have been running smoothly.  Afterschool sports has begun for our junior and senior high students in the form of volleyball.  Unfortunately, there will not be any inter-school play this year, but we will have the opportunity to continue to develop our skills. The SRC has been busy organizing Fun Friday events for the school, including a trivia game and a scavenger hunt. They will continue to plan and implement fun activities as the year progresses, including Halloween activities.

Brennan Olsen Memorial Colour Run-Mrs. Lisa Perkins                                                                                                           Neilburg Composite School and the School Community Council would like to thank all of our sponsors for their generous donation in support of the Brennan Olsen Memorial Colour Run. Brennan was a wonderful student and is greatly missed. Brennan had a passion for running, therefore the run was a perfect way for our staff and students to honour Brennan and his family. The day was amazing and memorable and would not have been so without your support. Not only were we able to purchase t-shirts for the run, but we were also able to purchase an outdoor bench and plaque in honour of Brennan as well.

Words cannot express how much we appreciate your kindness.

Thank you!

No Stone Left Alone – Mr. Walso

No Stone Left Alone was launched by Mrs. Maureen G. Bianchini-Purvis in recognition of the sacrifice of the Canadian men and women who have lost their lives in the service of peace, at home and abroad. It became her mission to see that one day all of the soldiers' headstones would have a poppy placed in their honour and the cemetery would resemble the idea of Flanders Fields where the poppies grow "row on row."

The Grade 11 & 12 classes will be participating in the Legion's No Stone Left Alone ceremonies on Thursday, November 5 at 11:00 am. The students that are able to drive themselves will travel in a convoy with Mr. Walso to East Manitou Cemetery down Winter Road. Students will not be carpooling aside from siblings that live together. Cindy Jeffrey will lead this ceremony. The students that are unable to drive themselves will walk with Miss Ross to the Neilburg Cemetery. Janis Walde will lead this ceremony. Because of Covid 19, the Legion asks that only the families of the veterans attend, if they wish. Please wear a mask and practice physical distancing.

We are crossing our fingers that the weather is great! -Jeff
