Orange Shirt Day

On September 28, our school plans on participating in orange shirt day. The day is to raise awareness about residential schools, the impact they had on generations of children and families, and work toward reconciliation. Orange shirt day started in 2013 as a legacy of the St. Joseph Mission residential school commemoration event held in Williams Lake. A former residential school survivor, Phyllis Webstad, shared her story of her first day of residential school as a child. She wore the brand new orange shirt that her grandma bought for her for school, and it was taken away from her and never returned. Residential schools had a detrimental effect on thousands of children during the time they were in operation. Wearing orange is one small way to show every child matters and support moving toward reconciliation.

S.R.C. New: Mrs. Kerr-Goodfellow

NO MAGAZINES being sold by NCS

The S.R.C. has decided to not participate in this year's QSP magazines. We'd like to thank everyone that has supported this initiative over the past years.

In lieu of magazine sales the SRC will be having several fund raising initiatives. Some of the ideas are more hat days, hot lunch sales plus a bottle drive.

Hat Day is every Friday

All hat day profits go to our foster child Hao Hao in China. The annual fee is $504. Two dollars is the fee to wear a hat on Friday. There are also $20 Hat day punch cards that are available on School cash on-line as well from the S.R.C. member who is collect the Friday hat funds. Any extra funds from Hat Day will be put to our other charitable activities for the year.

Career Education Updates: Mrs. Kerr-Goodfellow

N.C.S. Students at a grade 10-11-12 level may participate in several of these post-secondary initiatives. Every year the school organizes events but other events are available for students & parents to go on their own. If it is a N.C.S. organized event, there will be an informational letter plus a travel permission paper that will need to be returned for your teen to attend.
