Also many thanks to the Roznowski family, Michelle Knorr-Bingham and Trish Meadus for working at the Co-op Fuel Good Day BBQ in Lloydminster yesterday!  We so appreciate our volunteers.  Thank you to Trina at the Neilburg Co-op for all her work to make this happen as well!

Caution!  Caution!                                                                                                    Due to severe allergies among the students at NCS, the school requires that everyone avoid bringing any items with nut products, eggs that are not baked into an item or animals to the school.   Our students' health depends on your cooperation.  Thank you.

IMPORTANT!!!

If your child has a medical condition that requires prescription medication be administered by school staff (such as an

epi pen, etc) please fill out the form that will be sent home to parents of flagged students.  If you should have received a form for your child and didn't receive one, please contact the school office.  Thank you!

Tinker Lab

Thank-you for all your support and donations toward our school's tinker lab. As we start the new school year, we have taken some time to organize and see what we have available to students. At this time we are running low on the following items and would accept donations for: egg cartons, toilet paper/paper towel rolls, crafting supplies (we have lots of ribbon/yarn/string), and coffee tins or something similar. For the time being, we have lots of card board and plastic containers. We do not accept Styrofoam, empty child proof pill containers, or one time use meat trays/food containers that cannot be properly cleaned. If you have items you think might benefit our tinker lab and are not on this list, you are welcome to donate! Variety helps the students' creativity when building a project!

Orange Shirt Day

On September 28, our school plans on participating in orange shirt day. The day is to raise awareness about residential schools, the impact they had on generations of children and families, and work toward reconciliation. Orange shirt day started in 2013 as a legacy of the St. Joseph Mission residential school commemoration event held in Williams Lake. A former residential school survivor, Phyllis Webstad, shared her story of her first day of residential school as a child. She wore the brand new orange shirt that her grandma bought for her for school, and it was taken away from her and never returned. Residential schools had a detrimental effect on thousands of children during the time they were in operation. Wearing orange is one small way to show every child matters and support moving toward reconciliation.

Wellness Coordinator

Welcome back to a new school year! For anyone who doesn't know me, my name is Tiffany Smith, the wellness coordinator for Neilburg and Marsden schools. Some of my roles in the school include; classroom presentations, booking speakers, creating awareness about physical, mental, and emotional health and safety, talking to students, and referring to community resources.

Consent and Confidentiality are another large part of my job. Every student can receive support, while knowing that what they say stays between me and them. The exceptions to confidentiality include; any suspected child abuse, suspected harm to others, or suspected harm to oneself.  In these situations, I am required to report as necessary. If I have to break confidentiality, the student will be advised.

If you feel as a parent or guardian, you are unsure of me talking to your child, please let me know so we can discuss it. If I do not hear from you, I will consider it your consent to talk to your child if the need arises throughout the school year.

Meanwhile, if you feel that it would be beneficial for your child to see me at any point in the school year, please contact me or let their teacher know.

S.R.C. New: Mrs. Kerr-Goodfellow

NO MAGAZINES being sold by NCS

The S.R.C. has decided to not participate in this year's QSP magazines. We'd like to thank everyone that has supported this initiative over the past years.

In lieu of magazine sales the SRC will be having several fund raising initiatives. Some of the ideas are more hat days, hot lunch sales plus a bottle drive.

Hat Day is every Friday

All hat day profits go to our foster child Hao Hao in China. The annual fee is $504. Two dollars is the fee to wear a hat on Friday. There are also $20 Hat day punch cards that are available on School cash on-line as well from the S.R.C. member who is collect the Friday hat funds. Any extra funds from Hat Day will be put to our other charitable activities for the year.

Career Education Updates: Mrs. Kerr-Goodfellow

N.C.S. Students at a grade 10-11-12 level may participate in several of these post-secondary initiatives. Every year the school organizes events but other events are available for students & parents to go on their own. If it is a N.C.S. organized event, there will be an informational letter plus a travel permission paper that will need to be returned for your teen to attend.
