Family Advocate

The role of the Family Advocate is to work as a team with schools, families, and organizations to ensure students have the best chance of success.

Some of the ways the Family Advocate can provide support:

  • Listening to the stories and worries of families.
  • Making sure families have all the information they need to understand and work through the school system and other organizations.
  • Connect and build relationships between home and school.
  • Help families find support with the government, housing, financial support etc.
  • Help families fill out complicated paperwork.
  • Attend meetings at school with the families regarding behaviour, attendance, academic support etc.
  • Help families voice their worries and concerns.
  • Help families and schools make a plan for students to return to school after an absence.
