Job Action April 8-12

April 05, 2024

Job Action April 8 Week 1024x520.png

The STF announced all teachers across the province will begin work-to-rule on Monday, April 8. This action will continue until further notice.

This means there will be:

  • no extra-curricular activities

  • no STF noon-hour supervision, and

  • before and after school supervision will be limited to 15 minutes before the start of the school day and 15 minutes after the end of the school day.

Plans are being put in place to ensure the safety of all students.

All NWSD schools will communicate their specific plans to address noon supervision directly with their families and staff.

Each school may be impacted differently, depending on the availability of supervisors. School plans could range from a normal school day schedule to an adjusted school day schedule with an earlier dismissal.

Supervision may be provided by non-teaching staff and/or approved volunteers.

Schools may also encourage students to go home for lunch if they are able to, in order to reduce the level of supervision required.
Your school will send out their specific plan directly to all school families via email and Edsby.

NWSD respects the collective bargaining process and continues to be hopeful for a resolution.

We want to thank you for your understanding and support as we strive to keep you informed. We will continue to provide updates as needed through Edsby, email, and our website, www.nwsd.ca.
